Krishna (name changed) is the only daughter of a mother who has struggled for years after being abandoned by her husband. With no education and declining health due to HIV, her mother fought hard to raise Krishna while also caring for her orphaned niece, who became a vital support at home.
Seeing the difficult circumstances, AWARE Foundation stepped in and moved Krishna to a respected girls’ hostel and later to a better school in the city. Despite the tougher competition, she continued to excel. This year, she scored 91% in her 8th‑grade exams. Krishna isn’t just academically strong, she is a karate champion, a confident speaker, and an active participant in AWARE Foundation workshops. She dreams of pursuing higher studies in Germany.
This summer, AWARE Foundation will mentor her, and she has already begun reading classics, starting with Around the World in Eighty Days.
